Line-X Xtra experiences a migration of the urethane topcoat with the warm poly-urea coating, which increases cohesion. Safety Devices Roll Cages

If you are thinking of taking your Defender for an adventurous trip over rough terrain you might want to consider using a Safety Devices roll cage to help protect you in case of a roll over. The purpose of a roll cage is to help protect the cab of the vehicle against collapse. When considering a roll cage option, bear in mind that some roll cages, especially part cages, will offer less protection than others. Generally the full internal/external cages will be stronger than others.

Xerbera Automotive always recommends the addition of a 6 point Safety Devices roll cage as an additional safety measure for all Defender models regardless of your vehicle use plans.

Custom 3″ Cosmetic Roll Cage Hoop for Land Rover Defender 110 Double Crew Cab rear cargo. Made from large 3″ tube then sand blasted, Zinc coated and Powder coated to ensure a good finish, durability and no rusting in wet weather. Although the rear cargo roll bars are very strong, they haven’t been tested in a roll over situation, thus only recommended for cosmetic use and we strongly suggest installing Safety Devices 4-point external NAS style bolt-in front roll cage.

Please note: We would strongly recommend the additional fitting of chequer plates to the cargo area with this option. Available in Black or Silver finish.

SPECTRE 007 Edition Beadlock Modular Wheel – 16” x 10”

16″ x 10″ Beadlock style modular wheel s supplied to the Land Rover Defender featured in James Bond film. These wheels will fit all Land Rover Defender models.

These extreme off-road wheels were modified for snowy conditions in the Austrian Alps and come complete with full outer rim beadlock  and x27 hex nuts which bolts onto the 37” Maxis Trepador tires to run at ultra low pressures. With a 360 degree circumferential weld born out of our Motorsport heritage for strength you won’t find a stronger steel wheel. Twisted Sport Alloy Wheels

These wheels come in ET0 or ET10 off set. No need for the use of spacers. The wheels will sit as wide as it is possibly able to, without sticking out of the arches, giving you the most aggressive stance going for your Defender.

Set includes: A full set of 4 or 5 wheels includes a Wheel Pack, which consists of: color coded wheel nuts and locking nuts, a new wheel brace to compliment these, and color coded center caps to cover the drive flange, to finish off the look of your wheels.

16″ x 8″ – We find the 16″ wheel really suits those who use their vehicles for work or more serious off-roading, giving more side wall to protect the alloy compared to the 17″ or 18″ rims.

17″ x 8″ – We find the 17″ wheel really suits those who use their vehicles for work or light off-roading, giving more side wall to protect the alloy compared to the 18″ rims, but also gives better handling characteristics than 16″ rim.

18″ x 9″ – The wheel will sit much wider than a stock alloy, but 10mm inboard compared to our ET0 variation of the same design. Being slightly more tucked under the arch compared to an ET0, this wheel won’t spray quite as much mud and dirt up the side of your vehicle, so may be more suited to those who do a lot of mileage, or more off-roading with their Defenders.

In the late 80’s and early 90’s the County model Land Rover 90 came with the 16″ rostyle wheel in steel, originally seen on the Range Rover Classic. This wheel was fitted to one of Twisted vehicles and banded with wide steel rims and became a very popular talking point.
 
Following many requests, Twisted finally created their own alloy interpretation of this classic wheel. The Twisted Rostyle design is an 18” diameter and a 9” width, having an ET0 offset it sits wide and allows for full turning lock. It is tested to 1200kgs and unlike the original, its cast in alloy which makes it super light.
 
Note: It comes standard in Satin Black or Zambezi Silver finishes. The wheel can be painted any color to suit for additional cost. We recommend fitting either 285 60 18 or 265 65 18 BF Goodrich AT3 tires.

Bowler 18″ Light Weight Racing Wheel

These 8 x 18-inch, UK-made wheels have been designed by Bowler for its racing Defenders, their lighter weight – compared to Boost alloys – lowering the unsprung weight of the axles. The lower unsprung weight will help improve handling on- and off-road.

What exactly is unsprung weight? In a ground vehicle with a suspension, the unsprung mass (or the unsprung weight) is the mass of the suspension, wheels, and other components directly connected to them, rather than supported by the suspension (the mass of the body and other components supported by the suspension is the sprung mass). Unsprung mass includes the mass of components such as the wheel axles, wheel bearings, wheel hubs, tires, and a portion of the weight of driveshafts, springs, shock absorbers, and suspension links. If the vehicle’s brakes are mounted outboard (i.e., within the wheel), their mass (weight) is also considered part of the unsprung mass.

These high strength, light weight wheels are TUV tested and load-rated for Defender 110s and allow clearance for the bigger brakes fitted to the Bowler racers. Also available in 16″.

The wheels are 8” wide and will accept tires ranging from 255 – 285 wide.

This super strong and very stylish 6 spoke alloy wheel is rated at 1300kg per wheel and with the unique beadlock ready outer rim provides incredible rock damage resistance and protection for the valve core.

The Terrafirma beadlock alloy wheel is available in 5 x165 PCD which fits Land Rover Defender, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic.

Here at Xerbera Automotive we are installers of Panoramic Glass for your Land Rover Defender. This probably is one of the best changes you can do to the outside of your vehicle, as it really does change the whole look of the vehicle, and it is without doubt one of the sleekest exterior modifications that really will turn heads.

The glass we use has a 70% to 90% tint, so when fitted to a black vehicle for instance, it gives it a utility look, even though the glass is quite highly tinted, visibility is still very good when looking out from the inside.

LED Lights
 
For some time now, LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) have been replacing incandescent and halogen bulbs as original equipment on new vehicles. They’re used in tail lights and many other applications, most notably as the running lights seen in the headlight housings of many new cars and trucks. But while the OE has made great strides in LED lighting, the aftermarket has been hard at work on much more.
 
Most LED lights are ‘Plug-and-Play’
 
We offer LED replacement bulbs for every exterior light on your Defender: headlights, taillights, brake lights, side marker lights, turn signal lights, fog lights, roof lights and bars. And don’t forget your interior: dome lights, door lights, courtesy lights, map lights, and instrument cluster lights all can be upgraded to LED bulbs.
 
What makes LED bulbs better?
 
LEDs are transistors immersed in a film that produces light when electrical current is applied. Because they are not limited by self-consuming filaments the way traditional incandescent bulbs are, LEDs produce greater illumination from each watt of electricity. Lack of filaments also allows LEDs to burn cooler than incandescent bulbs because unnecessary heat is not created. In fact, energy savings are so great that LEDs use only a fraction of the electricity normal bulbs do. The reduced level of heat buildup also spares plastic lens covers on composite headlight assemblies from becoming degraded and milky-looking.
 
LEDs are extremely resistant to shocks and vibrations, and come sealed in moisture-proof casings. This allows them to provide anywhere from 10,000 – 50,000 hours of service, depending on design and other factors. If you measure that against the typical incandescent headlight bulb lifespan of 1,000 – 2,000 hours, it’s easy to see how LED headlight bulbs can last a lifetime once they’re fitted to your Defender.
 
LEDs have a number of advantages over incandescent lighting that are very attractive for automotive use:
 
  • They are very resistant to vibrations
  • They can often last for the life of the vehicle
  • They can be baked into moisture proof casings that withstand all kinds of harsh environments
  • They light up much quicker than incandescent bulbs

Ram Air Wing Top and Bonnet Scoops

In the on-going quest to make our vehicles more powerful and fun to drive, we’ve come up with a great Ram Air System. Of course there are lots of changes you can make to your Defender like a new exhaust system, bolt-ons like superchargers and turbos, but seriously, that stuff costs tons of money – both for parts and labor.

Our custom made Ram Air Wing Top and Bonnet Scoops are integrated into the cold air intake system and designed not only to enhance the looks of the Defender, but to allow the engine to breathe cooler air resulting in more power gain.

Cold Air intake system won’t add quite as much power as other engine mods, but they will help your engine in some other ways. Think of a standard factory air intake system as like having a cold that clogs up your head and restricts your breathing. Now go running. It’s not going to work very well, is it? A cold air intake is like amazing medicine that allows your engine to finally breath.

Cold air intakes move the air filter outside of the engine compartment so that cooler air can be sucked into the engine for combustion. Cooler air brings more oxygen (denser air) into the combustion chamber and that means more power. The filters are usually moved to the upper wheel well area or near a fender where there is more access to free flowing, cooler air and less hot air from the engine. Not only does a cold air intake reduce the air temperature, but it also increases airflow.

A ram-air intake is an intake design which uses the dynamic air pressure created by vehicle motion to increase the static air pressure inside of the intake manifold on an internal combustion engine, thus allowing a greater mass-flow through the engine and hence increasing engine power.

Sport Air Scooped PUMA Bonnet with Grill – GRP Fiberglass

This Defender Puma bonnet is made of GRP fiberglass with black gel coat (RAL 9005) as standard but does require suitable preparation (some filling and priming) and final painting. Do not oven bake your paint finish.
 
This aftermarket Land Rover Defender Puma Bonnet is made of Glass Reinforced Plastic with steel fixtures for the original fasteners; it is durable and flexible for heavy use. This scooped bonnet with mesh design allows cooling airflow through the mesh but rain is directed to the sides away from the engine block. It is light-weight compared to original aluminum Defender bonnets – the net weight is 15KG. Noise transmission is much less than the aluminum versions. It will greatly reduce the engine noise.

MUD Blind Spot Defender Mirror
 
Working closely with one of Europe’s leading mirror manufacturers, MUD has created a retrofit mirror for the Land Rover Defender that incorporates a wide angle convex mirror to eliminate potentially dangerous blind spots.
 
The Blind Spot Mirror function offers a huge improvement in road safety, making lane changing maneuvers safer whether you’re in slow or fast moving traffic.
 
Mirrors come in Right-hand and Left-hand configurations. The convex section is fixed and not adjustable. The surface area of the XL Defender Mirror Head measures 245 x 140 (mm) compared with the standard mirror glass area of 198 x 124 (mm). The mirror area of the MUD Blind Spot mirror is 173mm x 127mm, and the convex section is 52mm x127mm.
 
The MUD Blind Spot mirror is a straight swap for the original Defender door mirrors, using the same fixing method as the factory mirrors and even retain the same styling as the original Defender door mirror to ensure an OE factory appearance.
 
The MUD Blind Spot Mirror is housed within a larger mirror head that in addition to providing a larger reflective surface area than the standard Defender mirror glass, features the convex wide angle mirror glass.
 
The mirror insert can be flipped through 180 degrees within the mirror head so the wide-angle can be positioned at the top or the bottom of the mirror.
 
Is the MUD Blind Spot Mirror compatible with the MUD Heated Mirror Kit?
Yes the heated elements will go onto the back of the mirror. We’ve tested the heat spread with a Pyrometer and although the greater surface area means they take longer to clear, they do work.

Dirt D-Fenders are a neat little product that have been designed to prevent that annoying splash of MUD ‘leakage’ down the side of your Defender from the gap that exists between the bottom of the wheel arch and the mud flap.
 
The Dirt D-Fender attaches with rivets into the underside of the sill and wheel arch flare. On a recent off-roading trip we compared a vehicle fitted with Dirt D-Fenders to an identical 110 without. The two vehicles both started out ‘clean’ and covered exactly the same route, the difference speaks volumes.

Defender NAS Rear Step
 
This classic accessory was first made in the mid 90s for the Land Rover Defenders exported to the US. The NAS rear step is also a tow bar and is securely bolted to the rear cross member and chassis on all Defender models. Made from black powder coated steel tube and very stylishly fabricated, the rear step nicely breaks up the traditional flat rear end of a Defender. 
 
This well-designed NAS Rear Step not only provides a regulation towing attachment point for ball or pin hitches and two built-in jacking points, but also has a high-grip heavy duty rubber step surface to provide an effective full width step for safe entry and exit from the vehicle. The NAS Rear Step is made of zinc-plated steel for long lasting rust protection, and painted with automotive black powder coat paint and comes with a black rubber tread plate, which provides grip in wet conditions.
 
Note: Optional tow ball receiver can be fitted. The position of the towing bracket also allows easier hitching of a caravan or trailer as it is less obscured by the door mounted spare wheel.

Safari Snorkel for the Defender – Raised Air Intake System

Safari’s Air Ram system is a pivotal and functional attribute of the snorkel; CAD and lab tested, the Air Ram is designed to simultaneously remove the maximum volume of water from the incoming air stream, while delivering the maximum airflow to your vehicle’s engine. 

Safari snorkels utilize a UV stable polyethylene body which ensures a strong and robust fitting to the outside of your Defender, complemented by high-grade stainless steel and plated hardware for corrosion resistance on all internal and external fittings and fixtures.

All Safari connection ducting is custom designed and tooled and is manufactured from EPDM moulded rubber, rated to a continual 130°C operating temperature. There is nothing better!
